Happy Dewey’s Readathon Day! Here’s my opening post.

What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I’m located in North Florida, where it’s sunny today.

Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Two books I have to mention are Never Have I Ever and Would You Rather by Katie Heaney. The first follows Katie’s real-life experiences with never having a boyfriend; the latter book discusses {spoiler alert} her coming out as a lesbian. So clearly these two titles have to be read back-to-back, and I’m here for it.

What snacks are you most looking forward to?
Funyuns…oniony goodness. And, as always, coffee! I’m anticipating a Dunkin Donuts/Starbucks iced coffee run sometime in the afternoon. I also plan to lay by the pool, taking in this lovely sunshine.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m Rena, a lover of coffee, cats, and of course reading and books. I love participating in Dewey’s Readathon twice a year, even if I don’t read as much as I would like.

If you participated in the last readathon, what’s the one thing you’ll do different today?
Read smaller books. I also made an outline of what I want to read, so I can pace my time and narrow down what exactly I want to get to today. Let’s see if I, a big mood reader, can stick to this plan.

Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon – Check-In #1

So far I’ve read one book, Tomboy: A Graphic Memoir by Liz Prince. It was good, just had some issues with the tone of the book.

Reading:  This Is Just My Face: Try Not to Stare by Gabourey Sidibe. OMG, why did I wait so long to read this book. I’ve laughed out loud several times, and been about to cry at others. And I’m only 75 pages in.

Eating:  Nothing at the moment, but I had coffee and a breakfast casserole earlier, so I’m still full.

Thinking:  I really want to get back to Gabby.

Feeling:  I took a nap, so I’m somewhat refreshed. Hope to keep it pushing.

Reading from sunny and chilly north Florida.

Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Okay, my library holds this week, in preparation of the readathon, have been off the chain, so I have several that I’m looking forward to reading. The biggest, though: This Is Just My Face: Try Not to Stare by Gabourey Sidibe. I 💖 this girl, and I’ve heard her memoir is amazing.

Which snack are you most looking forward to?
Barnie’s brand coffee (Santa’s White Christmas) and Pepperidge Farm cookies.

Hi, I’m Rena. I love coffee and books and cats (in no particular order). This is my more than 5th time doing the readathon, and it’s my favorite. Trying to get a lot of books read and hopefully chatting with new and old reading buddies.

Get more reading done! And pace myself. And be more chill and have fun.
